The Islamic School of Canberra (ISC) is an independent, non-government school governed by a Board, which is the school’s highest authority. The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school, safeguarding its Islamic ethos, and ensuring effective governance across academic, financial, and operational areas. It provides oversight of policy development, risk management, and compliance, while delegating the day-to-day administration of the school to the Principal.

As a registered independent school, ISC is accountable to both ACT and Commonwealth education authorities. It must meet regulatory requirements relating to school registration, financial sustainability, student wellbeing, and educational standards. Governance arrangements are supported by a comprehensive framework of policies, including those covering child protection, staff conduct, enrolment, and complaints handling, which promote transparency and accountability.
